The short answer

Talaria's 2026 range is a clear ladder — pick the rung that matches the performance you'll actually use:

  • Talaria X3 (~$3,199, Score 88) — the best-value pick. The one to buy for most riders.
  • Talaria Sting MX3 (~$3,700, Score 87) — nearly identical for ~$501 less. The cheapest genuine entry.
  • Talaria Sting MX5 Pro (~$4,990, Score 91) — the newer 72V leader of the Sting line, and the highest-scoring Sting. The step up that's actually worth it.
  • Talaria Komodo (~$5,999, Score 91) — the top-peak-power full-size value: 32 kW and 21/18 wheels for experienced riders.
  • Talaria Dragon (~$6,949, Score 90) — the premium big-battery full-size on paper: 28 kW, 5.2 kWh, ABS, and traction control. Do not plan a purchase around it yet: Talaria's own page still calls it a prototype with the release date "to be determined", so every figure here is pre-production.
  • Talaria Sting R MX4 (~$4,100, Score 86) — the odd one out; the newer MX5 Pro beats it for less.

The key insight: skip the Sting R MX4

For a while, the counterintuitive truth about Talaria was that the cheaper bikes scored higher — the X3 (88) and MX3 (87) out-scored the pricier Sting R MX4 (86), because the R MX4's extra power didn't justify its premium.

That's still true, and 2026 made it sharper: the Sting R MX4 is now the bike to skip. The newer Sting MX5 Pro costs only about $890 more (~$4,990 vs ~$4,100) yet makes far more power (13.4 vs 8 kW), goes faster (59 vs 45 mph), keeps the street-kit path the MX4 gives up, and scores ten points higher (94 vs 84). There's no longer a good reason to buy the MX4 over the MX5 Pro unless you find one heavily discounted. So the real Talaria decision is simpler than the old three-Sting puzzle: buy value (X3/MX3), step up to the MX5 Pro, or go full-size (Komodo/Dragon) — not the MX4.

X3 — the sweet spot (most riders)

The X3 is the pick for most buyers: Score 88 for essentially value-tier money (~$3,199), with a touch more power and battery than the MX3, a light ~125 lb chassis, and a street-kit path where your state allows it. It's compact, well-supported, and one of the best bikes under $4,000. It no longer tops the lineup on raw Score — the MX5 Pro and Komodo do — but it's still the best Talaria per dollar. Buy it if you want the best all-around value Talaria without overthinking it.

Sting MX3 — the value entry

The Sting MX3 is the cheapest genuine adult Talaria (~$3,700) and the lightest (123 lb) of the range. It gives up almost nothing to the X3 — a hair less power and battery — for about $501 less, and it's one of the best value bikes we track. Buy it if you want maximum value and the lightest bike, and the tiny X3 upgrade isn't worth the extra $501 to you.

Sting MX5 Pro — the step up that's worth it

The Sting MX5 Pro is Talaria's newer 72V leader of the Sting line, and the highest-scoring Sting at 91. It makes 13.4 kW peak (more than double the base Stings and well past the MX4's 8 kW), runs roughly 59 mph on Samsung 50S cells and an adjustable fork, and keeps the street-kit path — for ~$4,990 (repriced above the MX4 in July 2026). It's heavier than the entry Stings (~165 lb) and its MX5-specific aftermarket is still young, but on price-to-hardware it's the clear "more power" Talaria to buy. Buy it if you want a real performance jump over the value Stings without stepping all the way up to a full-size Talaria. (MX5 Pro vs Light Bee X →)

Komodo — top-power full-size value

The Talaria Komodo is the top peak-power Talaria: 32 kW peak, 97.2V, 754 N·m of torque, full-size 21/18 wheels, and a ~4.4 kWh pack, for $5,999 (Score 91). It's a much bigger, more motorcycle-like machine than any Sting — ~216 lb and expert-level — aimed squarely at the Sur-Ron Ultra Bee tier rather than the value class. Buy it if you're an experienced rider who wants Talaria's most output and full-size enduro geometry for the money, and you don't need the Dragon's larger battery or newer rider aids. (Full review → · Komodo vs Sur-Ron Ultra Bee →)

Dragon — big-battery premium full-size

The Talaria Dragon is the premium big-battery Talaria: 28 kW peak, 10 kW nominal, an 88.8V / 58.5Ah / 5.2 kWh pack, 630 N·m of torque, ABS, traction control, and a 70 mph claim, for $6,949 (Score 90). It gives up peak output to the Komodo but brings more battery and more electronics. It is still an unproven pre-order with no confirmed US ship date (the only delivery dates come from the unreliable reseller sites), so real trail range, production support, and US road paperwork all stay caveated. Buy it if you want the newest, most feature-heavy full-size Talaria and accept early-production uncertainty. (Full review → · Dragon vs Komodo →)

Which is right for you?

  • Most riders / best value → X3
  • Cheapest entry / lightest → Sting MX3
  • A real power jump for the money → Sting MX5 Pro (not the MX4)
  • Top-power full-size value → Komodo
  • Biggest battery / newest full-size features → Dragon
  • Want a street-kit path → MX3, X3, or MX5 Pro (not the R MX4, Komodo, or Dragon)

The bottom line

For a Talaria, the X3 remains the smart default — the best bike per dollar for most riders — with the Sting MX3 right behind it as the cheapest, lightest entry. When you want more, the story changed for 2026: step up to the newer Sting MX5 Pro (Score 91), which out-specs the older, pricier Sting R MX4 at every turn and makes the MX4 the one model to skip. If you want full-size Talaria hardware, choose the Komodo for maximum peak power and value, or the Dragon for the bigger battery and newer electronics while its US ship date remains unconfirmed.
