Terms of use

VoltRipper is an independent publication, not a dealer, manufacturer, repair shop, law firm, or insurer. These terms explain the limits around research, legal summaries, modifications, affiliate links, and site use.

What this site is#

VoltRipper publishes independent research, rankings and buying guidance about electric dirt bikes. It is a publication. It is not a dealer, a manufacturer, a repair shop, a law firm or an insurer, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any manufacturer whose products it covers. Brand names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

The information here is general, and you are responsible for your own decisions#

We work hard on accuracy - every specification traces to a named source, our figures are re-verified on a schedule, automated checks run before every release, and we publish our mistakes in a corrections log. We still get things wrong sometimes, sources contradict each other, and manufacturers change specifications without notice.

Everything on this site is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of accuracy, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

Specifically:

  • Verify before you buy. Prices, specifications, availability and shipping costs change constantly. Confirm anything that matters with the seller before money moves.
  • This is not legal advice. Our state legality pages summarise our reading of published statutes and agency guidance on a specific date. Laws change, agencies interpret them differently, and local rules can differ from state rules. Confirm with your state DMV or a qualified attorney before registering, converting or riding on a public road.
  • This is not safety, medical or engineering advice. Riding an electric dirt bike carries a real risk of serious injury or death. So does modifying one. So does mishandling a lithium battery.
  • Age and size guidance is a starting point, not a clearance. Where we report a manufacturer's age rating, that is the manufacturer's position, not our endorsement. Youth safety authorities frequently recommend more caution than manufacturers do, and where we know of that gap we say so.

Modifications, derestriction and street conversion#

We publish information about what these machines can do and what the law says about them. We do not publish step-by-step modification instructions, and we do not encourage riding illegally.

If you modify a bike including removing a speed limiter, changing a controller, or converting one for road use you do so at your own risk and on your own responsibility. Modification commonly voids the warranty, may make the machine illegal to operate where you live, can create genuine thermal and fire risk, and can render the bike unsafe in ways that are not obvious until something fails at speed.

Assumption of risk and limitation of liability#

By using this site you accept that any decision you make what to buy, how to ride, whether to modify, where to operate is yours, and that you assume the risks that come with it.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, VoltRipper and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, property damage, injury or death, arising out of your use of this site or your reliance on anything published here. Some jurisdictions do not permit certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Affiliate relationships#

We earn commissions on some outbound links. This is disclosed before every affiliate link, and in full on our disclosure page. Commission does not influence our rankings, our Score, or our recommendations - a claim you can check, because how the Score is computed is published in full and contains no commercial input.

Your use of the site#

Read it, quote it, cite it, link to it - we would like that. Please do not scrape it wholesale, republish it as your own, or use it to train a model that competes with it. A contact route for citation requests is being established; when it exists, we will usually say yes and can point you at the underlying sources.

Changes#

We may update these terms. The date at the top reflects the last change.
