Seat height is only half of "can I ride this"

Two things matter almost as much as the seat number, and the listicles skip both:

• Weight. A tall bike you can only tiptoe is still manageable if it's light — a 130 lb Sur-Ron Light Bee X is easier to hold at a stop than a 280 lb Sur-Ron Storm Bee, even at a similar seat height. • Seat width. A narrow seat lets your legs angle inward to the ground, so it can feel lower than a wider seat at the same measured height. Sit on the bike if you can.

And most bikes can be lowered an inch or two with a lowering seat, adjusted sag, or a linkage — but it's far easier to fine-tune a bike that's already close than to force a 35–38-inch full-size machine (Sur-Ron Ultra Bee at 35.8 in, Stark Varg at ~38 in) into range. Start close.

What to avoid if you're short

The full-size tier is the trap: the Sur-Ron Ultra Bee (35.8 in), Storm Bee (37 in), and Stark Varg (37.8–38 in) are superb bikes, but their seats put a lot of riders on their toes — and their weight compounds it. If you're set on that much capability, plan for a lowering setup from day one, or size down to the compact class above.
