Check Amazon priceThe short answer
No. For a performance bike, AliExpress doesn't sell the real thing. For a budget bike, the genuine ones cost less and come with a warranty that works when you buy them from the maker or its own Amazon store. The ones that are much cheaper aren't the bike on the label.
We don't earn anything from AliExpress, and we don't link to it. We checked what it actually offers a US buyer on 2026-09-14. AliExpress item pages sit behind a login loop our research tools couldn't get through, so what follows comes from its US search results and from the makers' own pages.
What AliExpress actually shows a US shopper
For most of the brands in our catalog, AliExpress shows no complete bike at all. Searches for Sur-Ron, Talaria, Rawrr, Yozma, Tuttio, Riding'times and Heybike, set to ship to the US, returned parts only.
Three brands did turn up, and each fails on the maker's own terms:
- Listings using 79Bike's Falcon Lite name, at roughly a third of 79Bike's own price. AliExpress is not on 79Bike's list of official sites, and 79Bike's scam page warns that a deal that looks too good to be true probably is.
- A VALTINSU EM-5 Pro listing, at $110 more than VALTINSU charges on its own site, under a lower power figure than the maker publishes.
- An Eskute RT-X listing, dearer than both Eskute's own delivered price and Amazon's, with a UL 2849 claim in its title that Eskute's own page doesn't make.
The clone pattern is easy to spot once you look. Half of the listings on AliExpress's 72V search, six of twelve, claimed 72V and 5 to 12 kW for under $1,000. One, titled "LBX", sold for under a fifth of what a real Sur-Ron Light Bee X costs ($4,499).
The price is the tell
A real 72V, 10 kW electric dirt bike can't be sold for under $1,000. The battery alone costs more than that to make, and the bike has to cross an ocean and pay duty. So when a listing borrows a famous name at a fraction of its price, it is one of three things: a different, weaker bike under a borrowed name; a counterfeit; or a listing that never ships. None of those is a bargain.
The honest version of the rule runs both ways. If it's far cheaper, it isn't the bike. If it's the bike, it isn't cheaper. The genuine budget bikes we found on AliExpress cost the same or more than they do from the maker.
What you would actually pay
Duty. A CBP ruling from December 2024 classifies a pedal-less electric motorcycle under HTS 8711.60, which carries no general duty. China-made goods under that heading pay an extra 25% unless they are specifically excluded. From 2026-07-24, a CBP bulletin adds another 12.5% on Chinese goods, and its list of exclusions does not name motorcycles. The bulletin does not say whether the two stack. Customs brokers read them as stacking.
To see what that means, take a bike declared at $2,000. The 25% alone is $500, and it becomes $750 if the 12.5% stacks, before any customs fees or freight.
No small-import exemption. The duty-free de minimis allowance for imports under $800 is suspended for courier and freight shipments since 2026-06-24, and for mail since 2026-07-24.
Why most listings still say "free shipping". A complete bike ships with its lithium pack installed, which rules out the post. The listings that sell to the US advertise US warehouses instead. That means someone already imported the bike and paid the duty, so the duty is inside the price. It is one more reason a 72V bike carded at under $1,000 is not what its title says.
Warranty, returns and registration
Warranty. The makers say plainly who they cover:
- 79Bike's warranty covers bikes bought on 79bike.com.
- QRONGE's warranty applies only to bikes bought through QRONGE.com.
- KOOZ covers purchases from an authorized KOOZ retailer or directly from KOOZ. An AliExpress KOOZ is covered only if KOOZ confirms that store is authorized.
A warranty from an unknown AliExpress store is only as good as that store.
Returns. AliExpress's own Free Return terms define a "Large Order" as anything over 30 kg, and tell you to confirm with the seller or AliExpress before you order whether free returns apply. The lightest adult bike we track that is still sold new, the Tuttio Soleil01, weighs 105 lb, which is 48 kg. Returning a bike that size is freight, and freight is expensive.
Registration. To register an off-highway bike, states ask for proof of ownership. California's DMV lists a manufacturer's certificate or statement of origin first, and accepts other routes such as a factory invoice or a chain of bills of sale. None of the AliExpress listings we saw mentions a certificate of origin. Without one, registering the bike is harder in states that ask for it.
Battery safety
The standard that fits these bikes is UL 2272. CPSC's 2026 proposed rule on lithium-ion batteries says a product without pedals is not an e-bike and falls under UL 2272 as a sit-down e-scooter. The rule is proposed, not final.
California already requires it. California's SB 1271, in force since 2026-01-01, bars anyone from selling a powered mobility device unless its battery has been tested to UL 2272 by an accredited lab. The law's definition includes off-highway motorcycles and excludes vehicles that must be registered with the DMV.
AliExpress has been named before. In April 2024, CPSC warned consumers to stop using Unit Pack Power e-bike batteries, which were sold on AliExpress, Amazon, DHgate, eBay, Walmart and elsewhere. CPSC had 13 reports of the batteries overheating, seven of them fires with substantial property damage. It said the batteries were not certified to the applicable UL standard, and that the maker had refused an acceptable recall.
For how to read a certification claim, see our battery safety guide.
What to buy instead
If AliExpress appealed because of price, the genuine budget class costs about the same from sellers whose warranty works:
| Bike | Score | Price | Where we send you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tuttio Soleil01 | 73 | $990 | Tuttio's own store on Amazon |
| Yozma IN10 | 72 | $1,079 | Yozma's store on Amazon |
| Heybike Villain | 78 | $1,499 | Heybike's store on Amazon |
| VALTINSU EM-5 Pro | 75 | $1,699 | VALTINSU's own US store on Amazon |
| Eskute RT-X | 72 | $1,799 | Amazon |
| 79Bike Falcon Lite | 78 | $2,499 | 79Bike's brand store on Amazon |

The bottom line
Don't buy an electric dirt bike from AliExpress. The performance brands aren't there, the budget bikes that are genuine cost no less, and the bargains aren't what their titles say. Add duty, freight-sized returns, a warranty that doesn't follow the bike, and a battery nobody has tested, and the saving disappears. Buy from the maker or its own store, and use the Find Your Ride configurator to pick the right one.
VoltRipper is independent: we don't sell any bike and we don't earn from AliExpress. This is general information, not legal or customs advice; duty rates and state rules change, so check with CBP or a licensed customs broker before importing anything. We are spec-verified and data-driven rather than hands-on.
FAQ
Can you buy a real Sur-Ron or Talaria on AliExpress?
Not that we could find. On 2026-09-14, US-facing AliExpress searches for Sur-Ron, Talaria, Rawrr, Yozma, Tuttio, Riding'times and Heybike returned parts only, with no complete bike. Listings that do use a big brand's model name sell for a fraction of its real price, which is the pattern of a clone or a scam rather than a bargain.
How much duty do you pay on an electric dirt bike from China?
A CBP ruling classifies a pedal-less electric motorcycle under HTS 8711.60, which carries no general duty, but China-made goods under it pay an extra 25% unless specifically excluded. A CBP bulletin adds another 12.5% on Chinese goods from 2026-07-24, and its exclusions do not name motorcycles. The bulletin does not say whether the two stack, and customs brokers read them as stacking. The duty-free de minimis allowance is gone for every shipping mode.
Does AliExpress offer free returns on electric dirt bikes?
Not automatically. AliExpress's own Free Return terms treat any order over 30 kg as a Large Order, and tell you to confirm with the seller or AliExpress before ordering whether free returns apply. Adult electric dirt bikes weigh far more than that.
Will an electric dirt bike from AliExpress come with a warranty?
Usually not one the maker honours. 79Bike's warranty covers bikes bought on 79bike.com, QRONGE's applies only to bikes bought through QRONGE.com, and KOOZ covers purchases from an authorized KOOZ retailer or KOOZ itself. An AliExpress store is none of those unless the brand confirms it in writing.
